The artist, Madeline Gordon Jackson (Shibui), was born in January 1940 and raised on the family property in Santa Barbara, California. During the late 1980s and early 1990s, she spent about a decade living on a Dutch barge in Sausalito, California, and, upon her full-time return to Santa Barbara, decided to turn the family property into an artist collective for creatives like herself from all walks of life.
For more than four decades, from the 1970s through the mid-2010s, Madeline used her artistic abilities across a variety of mediums. She worked with stone, bronze, ceramic, welded metals, and flat canvas, sourcing materials from all across the country and performing the majority of her work right in her own backyard. She displayed her work in galleries across the western United States, including but not limited to La Jolla (CA), Montecito (CA), Santa Barbara (CA), Sausalito (CA), Brookings (OR), Seattle (WA), Sedona (AZ), and Phoenix (AZ).
Since her passing in January 2021, her private collection has come into our possession. We are now pleased to offer some of her oils on canvas. The gallery can be viewed by clicking the button below.
